Where your data lives, and what happens if something breaks.
Data location, backups, monitoring and support for Qasid, in one place.
Why it matters
Before you move a business onto Qasid, you should know where its data sits, how it is backed up, who notices when something goes wrong, and who answers when you write. Here it is plainly.
What you get
- Where your data is stored. Qasid runs on a dedicated server in Contabo’s data centre in Lauterbourg, France, in the EU. Your mail stays on your own mail server; if you host your email with us, your mailboxes are on that same server.
- Nightly encrypted backups. Every night the database, and the mailboxes we host, are backed up and encrypted before they leave the server. Only we hold the key, so the storage provider can’t read them.
- Kept off-site. Encrypted copies are kept with a separate storage provider for 60 days, and on the server itself for 14 days.
- Restores are tested. A backup is only useful if it comes back. We restore backups onto a separate machine to check them, most recently in October 2026.
- Watched every five minutes. A watchdog checks the app, the database, disk space, certificates and the nightly backup every five minutes, and alerts us when something is wrong.
- Support. Write to us any time from the Contact page. We reply within one working day.
- Leaving is easy. Download all your data, or delete your account, at any time. A deleted account is removed within 30 days, and from backups within a further 60 days. The mail on your own server is never touched.
Questions
What happens if your server goes down?
Your mail keeps arriving at your own mail server and still works in any mail app; only the Qasid features pause until we’re back. For mailboxes we host, sending servers keep retrying, so new mail is delivered once we’re back.
Who can read the backups?
Nobody without our key. Backups are encrypted on our server before they are copied anywhere.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes, any time, from Settings → Your data, as a file you can keep.
